Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. This cause is near and dear to all of our hearts as 1 in 8 women will be affected by breast cancer at some point in their lives.
Nationally, ZTA has been Thinking Pink for over 25 years. As an organization, ZTA has passed out more than 25 million pink ribbons in an awareness campaign across the county as well as to support survivors and honor those who have lost their battles to Breast Cancer. Zeta Tau Alpha is also partnered with incredible organizations such as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer®️, The American Cancer Society®️, the NFL, and Bright Pink®️, all in an effort to provide resources and support across college campuses.
Each year here at UD, we pride ourselves on making an impact. In addition to two large philanthropy events each year, we participate in numerous smaller activities to benefit our philanthropy. These include raising money through takeovers at local restaurants, participating in the making strides walk here in Dayton, and sending girls each year to the “Crucial Catch” Bengals game in Cincinnati to pass out our ribbons to spread awareness. In the fall each year, we hold BFOC, or Big Flyer on Campus, a talent show that allows other organizations on campus to show off their talents and raise money to support Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Every year at this event, we are privileged to get to listen to a survivor talk about their experience and this allows us all to see first hand how our impact can make a difference. In the spring, we put on the “Crown Classic”, a flag football tournament that brings together the entire campus community in an effort to fundraise for a cause that everyone is able to relate to.
