As graduation nears the corner, the topic of alumnae is more prevalent than ever. Becoming a Zeta alum is such a big step into the future, and as always, Zeta is forever. Having the opportunity for current members of the chapter to connect with alumnae is such a privilege. We can learn and grow greatly from the advice they share with us. Even miles apart, it is important to keep the network strong. Creating positive alumnae relations can help to strengthen our chapter.
This past year, I became the Alumnae Relations Chair for the Iota Pi chapter at the University of Dayton. This position has helped me grow in both my leadership abilities and communication skills. Planning events to connect with the local Dayton alumnae chapter as well as our very own Iota Pi alumnae is the lifeblood of our chapter. My favorite memory so far from having this position was the virtual event we were able to have with the local Dayton alumnae earlier this semester.
Even though it was on Zoom, we were still able to have a great event and it allowed the opportunity for current members and alum to meet and connect with one another. For this specific event, we played a Zeta Jeopardy game based on a variety of fun Zeta facts. After that, we had a panel with pre-set questions from the current members to the alumnae. The best part was getting to listen to the great stories and many memories that everyone had to share.
Having these incredible opportunities to build relationships with alumnae has been more important then ever, especially after the impact of COVID-19 and needing to have virtual events. Zeta has truly made my college experience so special and I cannot wait to give back one day and join an alumnae chapter.
