Hi everyone! My name is Emily Callam, I am a senior here at UD and Vice President of Membership for Zeta Tau Alpha. First and foremost I would like to thank you for visiting our blog and your interest in recruitment.
I went through primary recruitment as a freshman like many of you three years ago. I remember absolutely loving the process and truly feeling that I had found my home at Zeta. Going into recruitment, I didn’t know much about Zeta but I remember walking out of the room sisterhood round knowing there was something special about the chapter. I immediately went home and followed them on Instagram and got excited about potentially becoming a member. As each round passed members remembered my name and truly made me feel like I was meant to be there. When bid day came around I had a blast with my current and new friends, I felt like I could be myself and knew I had a place among this crazy group of women.
Without my sisters at Zeta Tau Alpha, I would have never had the courage to pursue a position on the Executive Committee as a sophomore and eventually become the Treasurer, something I knew nothing about. Now, I am lucky to serve as the VP of membership and help women at UD find their home like I did.
In these uncertain times I understand that for many, joining a sorority may be the last thing on their mind. However, I believe that opportunities like these allow us to break out of our comfort zones and ultimately introduce us to a larger Dayton community.
Recruitment begins Wednesday, February 3 as chapters watch PNM videos for sisterhood round. On Friday, February 5 and Saturday, February 6, PNMs will meet over Zoom with up to five sororities for philanthropy round. Finally, on Sunday, February 7 PNMs will meet with up to two sororities for Preference round and will hopefully find their home and join that chapters virtual Bid-day later Sunday night!
I encourage any eligible UD to register for recruitment. For more information, visit our Instagram @udaytonzta as well as UD’s Panhellenic Instagram @ud_panhellenic to register and learn more about primary recruitment.
